I am linking up with Andrea and Erika to share some of my favorite moments from 2015. This year has flown…I’m both inspired by the prospect of starting a fresh year in 2016, and saddened by how fast the time flies. Life, please slow down, would ya? 2015 delivered a quickly growing, ever independent toddler Corinne. Very busy careers for both Brian and I, which constantly keeps us on our toes. Our first family trip to the beach – we fell in love with Hilton Head this year! And many days that weren’t filled with anything groundbreaking, but filled with my little family, which is my favorite way to fill my days.
In January we started swim lessons with Corinne, and our friends Sarah and Parker. We had a lot of fun, and it was definitely necessary to get Corinne a little more accustomed to the water. We will be diving into swim lessons again this year after the new year!
We had a sweet little Valentine’s party with Brian’s family in February. The kids loved it (but with candy and cousins, who wouldn’t?)
We celebrated Corinne’s 2nd birthday in March, Sofia the First style. Birthday parties are this girl’s love language – she didn’t quit smiling and giggling all day!
Easter was my favorite holiday growing up…I once woke up my parents at 3 a.m. because I wanted to dig into my basket! I love sharing this holiday with my little family.
Oh, Hilton Head, how we love you! This small beach town was just delightful, but the full week of uninterrupted family time? You can’t put a price on that, my friends. We are heading back again this May, and I.am.ready!
Brian and I had a date weekend in June that was filled with friends, a concert, good food…we need to plan one of these again! The solo couple time does not happen nearly enough when you have kids…it was great to get away and just be us, but also so fulfilling to scoop that sassy toddler back up in our arms the next day.
I completed my first 21 Day Fix in July, and I was so proud of myself! I felt stronger, leaner and healthier in a matter of three weeks…I’m so amazed by this program. I’ll be kicking off another 21 Day Fix in January to get 2016 started off right. I’m so thankful to my friend Andrea who helped me fine tune my nutrition and fitness. Andrea has a huge heart, loves to help people, and has so much energy! I swear they put something extra special in that girl’s Shakeology 😉
Corinne started dance classes at Tippy Toes in August, and it just melted this mama’s heart. I taught preschoolers at this same studio when I was younger, so it was extra special to see her out on that dance floor. Corinne is one of the youngest in her class, which has made things very interesting this year, ha! Whether she turns this into a passion or not, it’s been fun to share this with her.
Brian and I celebrated 5 years of marriage in September with a date night, and then a Colts game a few days later. 5 years sure does fly!
We met Brian’s parents at Stuckey Farms in October for some fall fun. We picked pumpkins. Rode Buddy the mini horse. Ate some apple treats. Rode rides. It was a great time, and so nice for Corinne to have some special time with her grandparents!
My friend Sarah planned an awesome night out for our friends in November – our self-guided Indy brew tour! Can we make that an annual thing, friends? So fun to see new places, try new beverages and spend the evening with great friends.
We Christmas’d hard this month! It was fun for Corinne to grasp what the holidays mean, and start traditions with her. What I really loved? When Corinne’s biggest smiles came from her cousins, her grandparents, and just being with friends and family. It wasn’t the toys or the “stuff.” I need to remember this, because this little girl got it right this season!
Looking at the year month by month like this can really make a girl feel blessed. Sure, we had disappointments and bad days this year. But, our life is so blessed, and we are so fortunate. I am so looking forward to what 2016 has in store for the Holcomb’s!
