It’s been snowy and cold here in Indiana (duh, it’s January), and it sure does make the road seem long to spring. I’m trying to fill our weekends with fun activities so we aren’t feeling too cooped up inside!
Saturday morning swim class feels. This little cheeser is doing so much better with lessons this year, and it’s nice to have an activity to kick off the weekend.
I deep cleaned our refrigerator while Corinne was napping – I know, exciting times around here. I’ve been trying to make good on my resolution to de-clutter and clean the house out, and I was dreading this task. I feel so much better now that it is done! I didn’t want to use heavy chemicals around our food, so I cleaned the shelves with a mixture of vinegar and Citrus Fresh essential oil. The essential oils cut through the strong smell of the vinegar, and have cleaning properties of their own. Plus, they just make me happy – they smell so darn good!
Saturday evening I had a pick up planned for Kroger Click List before our family went out for the evening. Safe to say, I’ll be taking a little break from the online grocery shopping for a while…I had a horrible experience! I waited 1 hour and 15 minutes only to drive away with no groceries. The store more than took care of me with compensation for the mishap, and they were extremely apologetic…but I’m going to need some time to try it out again. Back to Meijer I go for a while!
Sunday morning I had brunch plans with some of my favorite ladies, and this is what I saw as I was leaving. Oh, be still my heart! Nothing makes me happier than seeing Corinne smile and giggle with her daddy. Precious.
It had been FAR too long since these ladies and I have spent quality time together, and it was wonderful! Betsy is due to have baby #2 in February, so we got together to sprinkle baby boy with some love, and catch up.
It’s hard to believe it has been 11 years since we were planted in each other’s lives! Betsy, Sarah, Kelley and I met while studying abroad in London in 2005. When you travel with someone, you get to know them very well and very quickly, and that’s just what we did! Our friendship has seen us through a lot in the last 11 years…boyfriends, marriages, husbands, babies, successes and disappointments…it is a blessing to have friends who really know you, and get you through it all. Love you girls!
The rest of Sunday was pretty laid back…a movie, a trip to Target and a quick new dessert:
3 ingredient chocolate muffins
1 box chocolate cake mix
1 can pumpkin puree
1 cup chocolate chips
Divide into 12 muffin cups, bake 13-15 minutes at 350 degrees. So easy and so good!
I hope everyone has a great week. If you have today’s holiday off from work, enjoy!!
