I don’t know about you, but it’s very hard for me to find balance during the holiday season. There are so many treats and indulgences that I correspond with this time of year, and I want to eat all.the.foods. We are in our peak season at work, and stress and limited time drives me to make choices that I regret later. While I am definitely not saying “no” to all the treats I love this season, I am doing my best to practice a little moderation.
This past July, I did my first 21 Day Fix, and I can tell you I haven’t felt that great in a really long time. The nutrition and work out plans left me feeling leaner, lighter and more energized. My pants fit better. I slept better. Since the summer, I’ve practiced moderation between my 21 Day Fix habits and life’s special treats. It’s worked pretty well, up until the past month or so. I’ll be starting the Fix back up in January, because I know I feel better when I reign in my choices and actions. If you are interested in joining me, please let me know – I would love to have accountability friends!
So, back to snacks…these are the healthier treats I turn to in my diet. They keep me in line, and taste good, too!
1. Chocolate Shakeology has been a constant in my diet for months now, and I LOVE it. I’ve got my favorite recipe that I make every morning, and drink on my way to work. It keeps me full all morning, delivers so many nutrients and vitamins, and leaves me feeling great. 2. This greek yogurt is a little high in sugar, but also packed with protein. A great afternoon snack to tide me over to dinner! 3. One of the hardest habits to break was late-night snacking. Cereal, sweets…I always wanted to nosh while we were hanging out in the evening. Night time tea gives me something to sip on, without the calories or sugar. 4. These yummy mandarin oranges are my favorite winter fruit (and Corinne’s, too!) 5. I also love these Lara bars for a treat here and there. Minimal ingredients, but so good! 6. Busy days can easily derail your plan, so I love these portable packs of almonds to eat when I’m on the go.
What are your favorite healthy snacks to turn to? I know the holidays are about to get even crazier and more indulgent, so my plan is to sneak in healthier choices whenever I can. It’s all about balance right?
